************ Children's Sermon on 1 Corinthians 15 ************

By: Rev. Adrian Dieleman

This sermon was preached on April 21, 2013

1 Corinthians
Needed: cup of dirt and plate

Hold up dirt. What is this? GET RESPONSE.
This is dirt.

At the beginning of time, God formed something from the dust or dirt.
Who can tell me what God made out of dirt at the beginning of time? GET RESPONSE.
God formed the man, Adam, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being.

Something awful happened this past Monday at the Boston Marathon. A couple of bombs went off, 3 people were killed and 180 people were injured.
What happens when someone dies? When someone dies, we have a funeral service and then we go to the graveyard and bury them.
At the graveyard the minister takes a handful of dust or dirt and says, "earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust." The minister says that because the body in the coffin goes back to dust or dirt. We are made of dust and, unless Jesus comes first, we go back to being dust.

This morning we are reminded that when Jesus comes back something wonderful happens to believers.
The dust is again formed into a body and our body is raised to life and joined with our soul.
We know this as the resurrection of the body.
So, boys and girls, I want you to know that death is NOT the end.
Because of Jesus our body will someday be raised and we will live with God forever.
