1 Timothy 4:13 Children's Sermon
Needed:
Big stone, baseball

GOOD MORNING BOYS AND GIRLS

STONES AND BASEBALLS
Is anyone hungry? (WAIT FOR A VOLUNTEER)
I have two things here: a loaf of raisin bread and a nice juicy apple.

Who wants the raisin bread? (GIVE THEM THE STONE)
Who wants the nice juicy apple? (GIVE THEM THE BASEBALL)

What do you think of this? What is wrong with this? (GET REACTION OF I CANNOT EAT THIS, BREAK MY TEETH, DOESN'T FEED ME, ETC)

So let me get this right: I cannot give you a stone instead of bread.
I cannot give you a baseball instead of an apple.

SUNDAY SCHOOL AND CHURCH
This week we start GEMS, CADETS, Youth Group, Bible Studies.
What do you start next Sunday? (GET RESPONSE OF SUNDAY SCHOOL)
What book will our young people be studying? What book will you be studying in Sunday School? (GET RESPONSE OF BIBLE, HOLD UP BIBLE)

The Bible is very important to us, isn't it?
We read the Bible, I preach from the Bible, we study the Bible, we learn from the Bible.

Do you know what they do in some churches?
They read and study and preach from some book that is not the Bible.
Do you know what that is like?
God's people need bread and instead they get stones. (HOLD UP STONE)

The most important thing we can do, boys and girls, is make sure we stick with the Bible.
We never want to give stones instead of bread.
