2 Timothy 3 Children's Sermon
I have something to show you (HOLD UP SWORDS).
What are these? What were they used for at the time of Moses and David and Paul?
Explain that swords are used to defend against enemies. They do no good if they are collecting dust on a shelf somewhere.
Paul says Christians have the sword of the Spirit.
Does anyone know what is the sword of the Spirit Paul is talking about? The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God.
Now, remember, swords are used to defend against enemies.
Who is the Christian's greatest and most awful enemy? Our greatest and most awful enemy is Satan. He hates boys and girls and dads and moms who believe in Jesus. He hates the church. So he attacks us. He tells us lies. He tempts us. He tries to lead us away from Jesus.
We protect ourselves from Satan by using the sword of the Spirit. So, this morning you start something ... You start Sunday School. And, at home you have Bibles that your parents read to you every day.
Be glad for Sunday School and Bible reading because this is how we defend you against the hatred and attacks of Satan by pointing you to Jesus and by warning you of what is wrong.
HOLD UP SWORDS. The Bible is the sword of the Spirit.
