************ Children's Sermon on 1 Corinthians 10:12 ************

By: Rev. Adrian Dieleman

This sermon was preached on July 26, 1998

-roller blades
-ice skates
-bicycle (or picture of one)

Based on 1 Corinthians 10:12
I Be Careful
-hold up roller blades, ice skates, bicycle and ask kids to identify them
-ask what is the one thing that scares kids when they learn to use them (get them to say "falling over"); mention it is not easy at all to learn how to roller blade, ice skate, or ride a bike
-what keeps you from falling over when you first ride a bike (training wheels)
-what do you do to not fall over when you first learn to roller blade or ice-skate (grab someone's hand or hang on to a wall)

II Be Careful about Sin
-our Bible passage this morning tells us to be careful that we don't fall
-be careful that you don't fall into sin
-what kind of sins do boys and girls do? (lie, fight with brothers or sisters, cheat, steal a cookie or candy)
-just as with a bike or roller blades or ice skates, you need help not to fall into sin; you need to hang on to someone's hand; you need training wheels
-we can pray, we can read the Bible, we can watch out for sin and stay away from it
-especially, though, we need the help of Jesus

III Pray With Children
-let's pray to Jesus that He will keep us safe from sin
