************ Children's Sermon on Matthew 21:16 ************

By: Rev. Adrian Dieleman

This sermon was preached on March 28, 1999

Needed:

-palm branches

-ask children grades 4 & under to come forward

-get members in front row to help me pass out branches

A Palm Sunday

Pass out branches to the children.

Today is Palm Sunday.

People were excited about Jesus as king. They were yelling "Hosanna!" and waving palm branches.

B Jesus Wants Worship

Did Jesus like this? You bet He did.

Jesus liked it that people were excited about Him. He liked it that they were praising and worshiping Him. He especially liked it when children did this.

What do you think I want you to do with the palm branch? I want you to wave your palm branch and say "Hosanna!

Try that a moment. Wave your branch and say "Hosanna!"

This means you are excited and happy that Jesus is king.

The congregation is going to sing a song in a moment about children praising Jesus. While we are singing I want you all to wave your palm branches and say "Hosanna!"

Ask the congregation to turn to 378: "Hosanna, Loud Hosanna"
