Children's Sermon based on Q & A 6

I $100 Bill Keeps Its Worth

-(GRAB A $100 BILL FROM THE COLLECTION PLATE.) Which of the boys and girls would like to have this $100 bill?

-(AFTER HANDS GO UP, CRUMPLE THE $100 BILL UP.) Who still wants it?

-(DROP IT ON THE FLOOR AND GRIND IT INTO THE FLOOR WITH MY SHOE. PICK UP THE CRUMPLED AND DIRTY $100 BILL.) Now who still wants it?

-There is a very valuable lesson here. No matter what I do to this bill, you still want it because it is still worth $100.

II We Remain Valuable to God

-You are like the $100 bill - crumpled and dirty. You are this way because of sin. All of us are sinners. We do bad things. We think bad things. We say bad things. Sometimes we do dumb things.

-Because of sin you are like the $100 bill - crumpled and dirty. But does that make us less valuable in God's sight? Does God say "I want nothing to do with that dirty, sinful person"? Of course not.

-No matter what happens every person is valuable to God because they are in His image. No matter what happens we continue to be like God.

-You boys and girls are in God's image. In spite of your sin you are valuable and precious. Just like this crumpled up and dirty $100 bill.
