Invite Children to baptismal font for an infant baptism
Forget to have bowl of water inside font
Good Morning, Boys and Girls
Take a look inside the baptismal font.
Does everything look okay? GET RESPONSE THERE IS NO WATER.
Can I do the baptism anyway? Can I just pretend? Of course not because baptism requires water.
Why do we use water for baptism?
Well, what do you use water for? (GET KIDS TO RESPOND WITH ANSWERS LIKE: DRINK, COOK, LAUNDRY, WASH, CLEAN).
We use water in baptism because of its cleaning power. When we see the water of baptism we are to think of being washed or cleansed. We are to think of being washed or cleansed of our sins. Of course, it isn't the water that washes away our sin. It is the blood of Jesus that washes away our sin.
When I baptize these babies I want you to think of washing: just as water washes dirt from our bodies, so the blood of Christ washes away my sin.
Baptize the babies ...
