************ Children's Sermon on Matthew 21:9 ************
By: Rev. Adrian Dieleman
This sermon was preached on March 21, 2005
based on Matthew 21:9
Good morning, boys and girls
Today is Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday is the day Jesus came into Jerusalem on the back of what? [A DONKEY].
Hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people stood at the side of the road shouting what when they saw Jesus? [HOSANNA, HOSANNA, HOSANNA]
And they were waving something. What were they waving? [PALM BRANCHES JUST LIKE YOU BOYS AND GIRLS WERE WAVING]
Do you know who were those people shouting "Hosanna" and waving palm branches? They were moms and dads, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, and even boys and girls.
Why did the boys and girls and their moms and dads shout "Hosanna" and wave palm branches? And why were you waving palm branches? Let me tell you what it means.
To shout "Hosanna" and to wave a palm branch means you are excited and happy that Jesus is king. It means you are excited and happy about Jesus.
Who here is happy and excited about Jesus? If you are I want you to yell "Hosanna." Repeat after me: "Hosanna."
Can you remember that, boys and girls? To shout "Hosanna" and to wave a palm branch means you are excited and happy that Jesus is Your king.
