************ Children's Sermon on 1 Corinthians 10:31 ************

By: Rev. Adrian Dieleman

This sermon was preached on June 12, 2005

Based on 1 Corinthians 10:31
Needed: Mouse trap
Good Morning, boys and girls.

A. MOUSE TRAP
I have something to show you.
Show mouse trap; set spring back and make it snap.
How does this catch a mouse? (GET ONE OF KIDS TO SAY MOUSE TRIES TO NIBBLE ON THE CHEESE)
The mouse knows it is dangerous, it somehow knows it could get caught, yet it nibbles anyway. (DEMONSTRATE A MOUSE GETTING CAUGHT)

Sometimes we are like the mouse. Sometimes we nibble on things we know are dangerous, on things that will get us trapped, yet we nibble anyway. (HOLD UP TRAP AND DEMONSTRATE)

B. SUMMER VACATION
Tell me, what sort of things are you learning in school right now? (GET ONE OF KIDS TO SAY THERE IS NO SCHOOL)
How come there is no school? (GET ONE OF KIDS TO SAY THEY ARE ON SUMMER VACATION)

C. A HOLY VACATION
Sometimes, when people are on vacation, they take a vacation from church and God. They are camping, or in a cottage, or on the road, and they don't go to church and don't bother reading the Bible. Do you think that is the kind of vacation God wants us to have? Of course not!

Sometimes people go places and do things on vacation that break the laws of God. Do you think that is the kind of vacation God want us to have? Of course not!

Don't forget the mouse trap! When we do stuff we should not do, we are like the mouse playing with the mouse trap.

D. THE GLORY OF GOD
I am preaching this morning from 1 Cor 10:31: "Whatever you do, do it all for glory of God."

Every day and in every way we should live for God's glory and not play around with something that will trap us.

PRAY WITH THE CHILDREN!
