Q & A 49

Needed:
-picture of Ascension, Jesus praying, many rooms in heaven

Have you ever watched young children taking their first steps? At first, they hang on to both your hands, then one hand, and when they become sure they walk on their own.

Can you think of some things you have learned to do for yourself? (Tie shoe laces, dress yourself, feed yourself, ride a bike, go roller-blading).

Today we remember a special day in the life of the church. Today we remember Ascension Day. Do any of you boys and girls know what Ascension Day is? This is the day Jesus went up into heaven.
(SHOW PICTURE).

The disciples were upset that Jesus was leaving them. They were upset that Jesus was making them do things on their own.

But Jesus gave them some special promises. He promised that once He was in heaven He would send them the Holy Spirit. And, with the Holy Spirit's help they could do all sorts of things on their own. And, through the Holy Spirit Jesus promised that He would still be with them.

Jesus is up in heaven and there He is busy. What is He doing? He is praying for us (SHOW PICTURE). He is making heaven ready for us (SHOW PICTURE).
