Children's Message based on Q & A 42-43

Walnut with the kernel inside and easy to split in half

Do any of you like eating them? Does your mom add them to her chocolate chip cookies?
We have all sorts of walnut farms in this area and a couple of people in our church grow walnuts.

Take a look at this walnut. SPLIT IT OPEN AND SHOW THE INSIDES
The outside is the husk.
The inside is the kernel.

Which part do you eat? GET RESPONSE
Which part do you throw away? GET RESPONSE

You and I are like walnuts.
There is an outside part - our bodies.
There is an inside part - our souls.

When we die, the outside part is buried.
The inside part - does anyone know where it goes? GET RESPONSE THAT IT GOES TO BE WITH JESUS.

Have any of you boys and girls ever looked inside of a coffin.
Have you noticed it kind of looks like a skinny bed with walls?
There is a sheet all around. There is a pillow.
The person inside, the eyes are shut.
They look like they are sleeping.
The bible says believers who die have fallen asleep.
Someday, when Jesus comes back, they will be woken up with the voice of the archangel and the sound of trumpets.

At that time the inside and the outside are joined together again DEMONSTRATED WITH WALNUT.

So, when a believer dies, he or she falls asleep. The outside is put in the ground and the inside goes to be with Jesus.
