************ Children's Sermon on Psalm 139:13-16 ************

By: Rev. Adrian Dieleman

This sermon was preached on January 17, 1999

Needed:

-bear doll

-nice doll

-fingerprint kit (with cleaner)

-postcards or stickers stating "You Are Someone Special" or "God Made You Special"

A HOLD UP BIG BEAR

His name is "Big Bear." He belongs to our David.

What is special about big bear? (cuddly, big, nice to sleep with)

B HOLD UP SARA'S DOLL

This doll has no name. She belongs to Sara Vander Weide.

What is special about this doll? (pretty, nice hair, nice clothes, gift from her grandmother)

C FINGERPRINT ONE OF THE KIDS

Show the fingerprint to the kids. Look at the lines and the swirls. How many people have the exact same fingerprint? No one. Not a single other person has the exact same fingerprint. This means that ______ is one of a kind.

God gives you your fingerprint four or five months before you are born.

This shows how special you are to God. Even before you are born God forms every little detail about you. Isn't that wonderful!

Boys and girls, we believe that every person is special. You and I are special. Every baby is special. And, every baby still inside its mommy's tummy is special too.

D HOLD UP POSTCARDS

Boys and girls, I want to give you something. It is a postcard that says "God Made You Special". This postcard is a reminder that you are special, I am special, your moms and dads are special, a baby still inside its mommy tummy is special. These postcards remind us that every person is special.

Can you remember this? Every person is special.

Pray with children ...
