I. Stuff You Like/Value
A Ask the kids to come forward with their stuff. Have all the kids hold up their stuff. Ask some of them what they brought.
B Some stuff I find to be valuable -- show the stuff I brought.
A. Pick up some of the items brought up by the kids. Ask who the stuff belongs to.
B Who does this stuff really belong to?
Psalm 24:1 "The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it"
It all belongs to God -- all this stuff, my gold and silver, my family, my computer, my bike.
A If it all belongs to God then it doesn't belong to us.
If it all belongs to God then we have to use this stuff the way He wants us to use it.
B What do you think God wants us to do with our stuff? He wants us to use it to serve Him and to care for the poor.
C This evening I'm preaching from Hosea. We will find out that the people of Israel forgot that everything belongs to God. We will find out that the people of Israel used their stuff the wrong way. We will find out that they used their stuff to serve idol gods instead of the one true God. I hope none of you will make their mistake.
