Children's Sermon Based on Hosea 5:3-4

Needed:
Ojo De Dios

A Bible Text
Good Evening, Boys and Girls

I would like to read to you two verses from Psalm 139:

O Lord, you have searched me
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
(Psalm 139:1,2)

These Bible verses tell us that God sees us. He sees us in the morning when we get up, He sees us during the day in school, He sees us at night time in bed.

B Ojo De Dios
I have something to show you. (HOLD UP OJO DE Dios)
Does anyone know what this is? In Spanish this is called an "Ojo de Dios." Can you say that: "Ojo" "de" "Dios." In English this means "Eye of God." I used to work in a church in New Mexico. When I was there I bought this "Ojo de Dios" from a Navajo Indian.

I was told that Navajo Indians hang up an "Ojo de Dios" in every room of their house. They put one in the kitchen, the living room, the bedrooms. This is to remind them that wherever they are in the house, the eye of God is upon them.

C God Knows You
Do we need to hang up an "Ojo de Dios" in our house for God to see us? Of course not! God is so mighty, so powerful, He can see through wood, stones, brick, cement. God sees and knows everything.

Is there anywhere we can go where God can not see us? If we fly in a rocket past the stars, can God still see us? Yes, He can. What if we fly to some island on the other side of the ocean; can God see us there? Yes, He can. What if I try to hide from God at the bottom of the ocean? Will He see me even there? Yes, He will.
(cf Psalm 139:7-10)

Do you remember Jonah? He tried to hide from God. God said, "Go to Nineveh, Jonah." But Jonah went to the Mediterranean Sea, got on a boat, and tried to run away from God. God found Him on the Sea and made a fish swallow Jonah and bring him back to the land. It is impossible, boys and girls, as Jonah found out, to hide from God.

God sees everything. He sees everywhere. He knows everything. Nothing escapes His attention. Jesus tells us He even sees the little sparrows when they fall.

You know what, boys and girls, God also sees in your heart. He sees and knows things about you that even your parents do not know. He sees and knows if you love Jesus. He sees and knows if you do anything bad. He sees and knows if you are scared. He sees and knows if you are sick.

"Ojo de Dios" (HOLD IT UP), "Eye of God." God knows you, He sees you! He knows you and sees you because He loves you and cares for you.

Remember that when you are scared, of if you do something bad, of if you are sick. Remember that the "Eye of God," the "Ojo de Dios," sees and knows everything.
