************ Children's Sermon on Genesis 18:19 ************

Tied in with Genesis 18:19 sermon

Needed: a bright lamp or flash-light

HOLD UP BIKE LIGHT. Anyone know what this is?
This is the light from my bicycle. TURN IT ON AND OFF. TALK ABOUT HOW BRIGHT IT IS AND HOW FAR IT SHINES.
Why would I need a light on my bike? Some mornings I leave early, when the sun is not quite in the sky yet. Some evenings it is getting dark when I getting home.
I need a light:
-to show me the way,
-to show obstacles in my path like a 2X4 or some junk that has fallen off a truck
-so cars and people can see that I am coming

The Bible can be compared to a lamp or a light:
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Ps 119:105).
We need the light of the Bible:
-to show us the way to heaven (which is Jesus)
-to show sins that get in our path
-so people can see us and praise God

Anyone know what we started on Wednesday? GEMS, Cadets, Bible Study.
Anyone know what we start today? Sunday School and Catechism. And all our other programs like choir, prayer meeting.

Do you know why we have all these programs? So our boys and girls and parents can have the light of the Word.
