Habakkuk 3:18 Children's Sermon
Needed: toys, food, clothing, shoes
Hold up and display the items to the boys and girls.
Ask what each of the items are.
Ask if they have anything like this in their home?
Let's say you lost all your stuff because of a fire or a flood or robbers.
Pick up each of the items and as I drop them in a paper bag/box say GONE. GONE. GONE.
So all your stuff is gone: food, clothing, shoes, toys.
Would you be sad?
Would you cry?
One of God's prophets told God's people that if he lost everything he would still rejoice (which is kind of a word for happy).
Let's say we are hungry, he said, I will still rejoice.
Let's say we lose all our stuff, he said, I will still rejoice.
Why would he still be happy? After all, he is hungry. His children are hungry. They have no shoes, no clothes, no home. So, why would he still be happy?
Because we have the Lord.
Because He saves us from our sins.
Because no one can take Jesus away from us.
Remember this, boys and girls: because of Jesus and His love you always have something to be happy about.
