Choir	"Season of Praise"

Narrator # 1:
This is the season of praise, a time of celebration. Coming together in joyful remembrance, we celebrate the birth of the Christ, the Promised One, the Redeemer, the Messiah, Emmanuel - "God with us."
But it was not always a time of celebration. Instead, it was a time of waiting. The prophets had foretold the coming of the Messiah and then there was silence. For 430 years there was silence.
(All the lights except those over the choir will be turned off)
Choir	"Waiting for a King"

Narrator # 2:
There was a young woman who knew well the prophecy of the Messiah's coming. Like her people, Mary believed that the Messiah would one day come. But how could she know that God would accomplish this miracle through her a poor, unmarried girl. When Mary shared the news with her relative Elizabeth, the Holy Spirit caused Elizabeth's unborn child to leap with joy. The celebration had begun! And as Mary sang her song of praise, all fear and apprehension was replaced with the celebration of the promise to come.

Choir	"Celebrate the Promise"

Narrator # 3:
Mary and her new husband, Joseph, made the journey to Bethlehem so that prophecy could be fulfilled. While they were there, Jesus was born. And because there was no room for them in the inn, Mary laid her son in a manger. What were the thoughts of the new mother as she gazed upon the Promised One?
(Second candle of Advent wreath is now lit)
Choir	"Sleep, Little Lamb"
Narrator # 4:
Across the hillsides, a different type of celebration was taking place. A group of shepherds, keeping watch over their sheep, were startled by a host of angels bringing word of the holy birth.
After the shepherds heard the news of the birth, they left their flocks and hurried to the stable. With wonder they knelt to offer their praise before the One Who would become the Lamb of God.
(Third candle of Advent wreath is now lit)
Choir	"Alleluia, Sing Noel!"
	"A Christmas Proclamation"

Narrator # 5:
God sent a star to lead wise men from the East on a journey to the Child. For as Isaiah had prophesied, the Savior would be light not only for the Jews but also for the Gentiles.
When they saw the child with His mother Mary, they bowed down and worshiped Him and presented Him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.
(Fourth candle of Advent wreath is now lit)
Choir	"Songs of the Star"

Narrator # 6:
The Messiah has now come! In this season of praise, many gifts are offered. The gift of praise. The gifts of obedience and faith. The gift of a mother's love. The gift of heavenly song. The gift of wonder. And, perhaps most important, the gift of proclamation for the shepherds proclaimed the good news of the Savior's birth to everyone they met.
What gifts do we bring? What praise do we offer?

*Song	"Silent Night! Holy Night!"
(All the lights are turned off. Hold up candles as we sing:)

Silent night, holy night, All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and Child. Holy Infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night, Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar; Heavenly hosts sing alleluia.
Christ the Savior is born! Christ the Savior is born!

Silent night, holy night, Wondrous star, lend thy light.
With the angels let us sing Alleluia to our King.
Christ the Savior is born! Christ the Savior is born!

Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face, With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth, Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
